If this quote is true, then the sounds emanating from the small stage upstairs at the Chameleon on Saturday night felt pretty beautiful to me.

Shrouded in her trademark cat hoodie and gloves, Oxo Foxo awed the lucky few who had made the trip through Nottingham’s back alleys to find the venue. Her hauntingly beautiful vocals, combined with a viola and a maze of loop pedals made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

Imagine James Blake, doing an impression of Kate Bush. in fact, don’t - trying to describe her music is like trying to describe the colour of the moon to a blind man; practically impossible.

What I will say is this, if you’re in Manchester on May 29th and want to listen to something truly original and quite special, then come to the Castle Hotel and be silenced by Oxo Foxo.
